Greg McHugh
Greg has over 30 years experience in operations management, technology,
and professional services. After receiving an MSEE degree from Stanford,
Greg spent seven years in telecommunications management. From there he
entered IT management in soft goods manufacturing and international banking.
Greg then spent the rest of his career in high tech and has held positions
such as CTO, VP of Operations and CIO for companies such as National Semiconductor,
Analog Devices, Cadence Design Systems, as well as startups - InServ and
Equinix. During this time, he also was a Principal at the international
management consulting firm Pittiglio Rabin Todd & McGrath (PRTM). While
there, Greg consulted in supply-chain management and product development,
and helped build the customer service and support practice. While not directly
in high technology, Greg was COO for Cheskin - a small market research
and marketing consulting firm located in Silicon Valley with both high
tech and consumer goods practices. Greg’s clients include companies
in the biotech, pharmaceutical and education industries.
Recent Projects

Greg is currently leading an effort to completely re-engineer
the financial aid process of one of the top five for-profit
post-secondary educational institutions in the United States

He recently led a project to develop an $100 Million
alternative loan process when Sallie Mae backed out of the sub-prime
educational loan business.

Led the development of a systems strategy
and subsequent implementation and outsourcing initiatives for a billion
dollar firm that grew rapidly
through a series of acquisitions. The associated initiatives
are designed to deliver an IT infrastructure that enables the company
to realize the
efficiencies of scale that were the basis of the acquisition
and growth strategies. The project involved process reengineering
across the entire
enterprise, software selection, contract negotiations, integration,
multiple pilots and implementation. It also included substantial
infrastructure
work and a move from in-house to a hosted data center. The
budget was $42 million. Defined, set up and managed the program framework
and the PMO
for this program, and trained client personnel to take on
these responsibilities.

Led a cross-functional team including multiple
vendors to implement a decision support system (DSS) based on the
Siebel Analytics software
package in support of the launch of a new drug for a major
pharmaceutical company

Developed a strategic plan for Information Technology
for a major drug manufacturer. Created an IT roadmap supporting the
company’s objectives
of growth, profitability, scalability and sustainability.
