Jim Nelson

Jim is a Partner of Perlinski & Company and is based in Phoenix Arizona. Jim’s thirty years of experience includes developing, leading, and turning around underperforming operations. His expertise in operations excellence, supply chain, and innovative technology solutions supports a commitment to operations efficiency and capital utilization. Jim has served in executive capacities throughout the Americas in both retail and CPG.

Recent Projects

  • Jim is currently developing and leading a strategic customer service program for a leading software company focusing on quality delivery, productivity, and license revenue generation.
  • He recently lead a major International Supply Chain Transformation program for one of Great Brittan’s most prominent retailers focusing on capital efficiency, operational performance, merchandising, distribution center design, ecommerce, and, international expansion.
  • Jim recently lead a supply chain and technology transformation project team at a major global electronics retailer focused on operations efficiency, standardized systems & platforms, distribution, and, transportation & delivery. This program included the implementation of leading software and technology solutions.
  • Working with one of the world’s largest energy providers, developed a new distribution model to support all off-shore Gulf of Mexico deep water drilling operations resulting in major reductions in storage locations, significant inventory reductions, and improved service.
  • Re-inventing international operations for a US corporation can make a significant contribution to operating profits and capital efficiency. Leading a recent SC transformation program in Costa Rica that resulted in freeing up significant capital through outsourcing & consolidation of distribution.
Relevant Experience
Partner, Accenture Supply Chain Service Line. Jim led the Fulfillment Distribution Operations practice of over 100 professionals specializing in Fulfillment, Distribution, and Transportation.

Senior Vice President Logistics, Petsmart. The nation’s largest pet specialty retailer, Jim was responsible for all supply chain operations and purchasing. Accomplishments included major reductions in inventory, consolidating procurement, renovating the distribution network, and implementing new technology solutions.

Vice President, Distribution Operations, Kmart. Responsibility included all distribution and transportation operations. Major reductions in operating cost, store deliveries, and inventory accuracy contributed to the Kmart turnaround under Chairman Floyd Hall in the 1990 ’s.

Vice President, Retail Distribution at Sears. Jim was responsible for all retail distribution operations. He re-engineered the distribution network utilizing leading practice processes and implementing practical & innovative technology solutions resulting in millions in cost reductions.
